I cannot say enough good things about the extraordinary service I received from Brad Kedish, Dan, and Gerin at Big Brand Tire & Service in Ponderay. On Saturday, June 13, I was driving cross-country from Seattle to Fairfax, Virginia, when I suffered a tire blowout near Ponderay at approximately 4:30 PM—just 30 minutes before closing. As a retired Naval Officer, I am accustomed to planning around timelines and contingencies, but this was a difficult situation. I had to reach Virginia by June 19 and had hotel reservations scheduled throughout the trip. Losing an entire weekend waiting for a tire could have disrupted the remainder of our journey. The moment Assistant Manager Brad Kedish heard my predicament, he went into action. My Mercedes requires an unusual 265/35 R18 rear tire, which they did not have in stock. Brad called other businesses trying to locate one, but none was available. The apparent solution was to remain in Ponderay until a tire could be shipped on Monday. Brad, however, wasn't satisfied with simply telling me there was nothing more he could do. He searched his inventory looking for a safe solution that would get me back on the road without compromising the vehicle or installing something he considered unsafe. He eventually found tires matching the size I had on the front that could safely get me back on the road and allow me to continue my trip. What impressed me just as much was the integrity with which they handled the situation. I was a stranded traveler with very few options, and it would have been easy to take advantage of the circumstances. Instead, Brad treated me fairly and even provided a military discount. With the assistance of Dan and Gerin, they completed everything and had me back on the road by 4:56 PM—four minutes before closing. All three gentlemen were exceptionally professional, courteous, resourceful, compassionate, honest, and genuinely determined to help. They turned what could have been a trip-altering problem into a remarkable example of customer service. Throughout my Navy career, I have learned that true professionalism and character reveal themselves when the pressure is on, time is limited, and the easy solution is not necessarily the right one. Brad, Dan, and Gerin demonstrated those qualities that afternoon through their integrity, resourcefulness, teamwork, and genuine commitment to helping a customer in need. Their actions exemplified customer service at its absolute best. Big Brand Tire & Service should be extremely proud to have these three gentlemen representing the company. They have my highest possible recommendation and a very well-deserved five stars.
